How To Make Any Outfit Look Expensive

How to make outfit look expensive, how to make outfit look better, how to make outfit look put together, how to make many outfit look expensive

As I’m approaching my mid thirties, my style is evolving from trendy to timeless pieces that I can wear for many years to come. I’m slowly starting to get rid of all the trendy stuff in my closet and replacing it with clothing that truly brings me joy (Marie Kondo style). I still have a long way to go because getting rid of 70% of my clothing is proving to be quite challenging, but I’m determined to do it! I actually started by shopping the Shopbop sale for beautiful, classic pieces that I’ve added links for below. My plan is to replace pieces of clothing from my closet with the new items that I bought. Ok, so here are my tips for how to make any outfit look expensive.

  • Steam Your Outfit: This one is a no brainer. Looking put together starts with the absolute basics and you can’t look polished with a wrinkled outfit. This $26 steamer has changed my life. I used to loathe ironing and now I never have to think about it, thanks to this steamer. It is great for using at home or while traveling!
  • Wear A Tonal Ensemble: Wearing an all black outfit or all white outfit, will instantly make you look sophisticated. Try mixing shades of cream, white and beige with different textures to make your outfit look more luxe.
  • Choose Block Colors Over Prints: This is something I am slowly working on eliminating from my wardrobe as well. Unless it’s a timeless print like polka dots, avoid wearing prints as they can easily make your outfit look outdated from season to season. Block colors will always be the more classic choice, and key for making your outfit look expensive.
  • Purchase Timeless Pieces Over Trends: It’s sometimes hard not to get sucked into trends but you (and your wallet) will be much better off purchasing pieces that you can wear for years to come. Yes, the initial cost may be more expensive if you are buying investment pieces, but overall, you will feel much better as you would definitely got your money’s worth. Once you collect enough pieces, you will be able to mix and match effortlessly!
  • Invest in Structured and Tailored Clothing: Whether its something as simple as hemming your jeans so they fit you perfectly, choosing a tank with a high end cut or wearing a gorgeous structured blazer, tailored clothing will elevate the final product way beyond its original price tag.
  • Stick With Gold Jewelry: Nothing, and I mean nothing will make your outfit look instantly expensive than gold jewelry. Some of my favorite brands to shop for jewelry are Aligheiri, Lili Claspe and Ana Luisa.
  • Buy Neutral Footwear: Ladies, I stopped wearing heels a loooooong time ago. If you ever see me wearing heels in this day and age, you better know that they are comfortable AF! Otherwise, I’m not doing it! My footwear of choice are sneakers or tiny heels that are neutral and can be mixed and matched with just about any outfit. So invest in some white black and beige footwear and you’ll be golden!
