3 Things I do to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

how to maintain a healthy lifestyle

+ WAKE UP EARLY AND MEDITATE

Waking up early has truly been life changing. I once read an entire book on waking up early called The 5 am Club which I think everyone should read if they want to get into the mentality of winners. I have always been fascinated by the lifestyles of highly successful people and the one thing they all have in common is waking up early and meditating. Waking up early allows me the opportunity to get a head start on my day before majority of the people. By the time I am done working out, eating breakfast, getting ready for the day and start working, it’s only 7am. Trust me when I say, that it is the most rewarding feeling ever. It sets the tone for my day and I am so much more productive. Besides, I imagine when I’m a mom, I will selfishly crave that extra time for myself in the morning before my kids wake up. I firmly believe that you need to be able to take care of yourself first, before you take care of others, and this will for sure play a huge role in my life as a parent. Waking up early will not only account for my personal success but also my success as a mom too. One more thing I want to add to this is that in order to get a proper nights rest and wake up early, you need to sleep early too. These two go hand in hand, otherwise you will not be to keep it up!

On to the next point: Meditation. Meditating everyday has helped me focus on my goals and manifest my future life. I like to start each day with intention and purpose. I think about everything I want to achieve for the day and visualize my dream life. Whether it’s doing yoga and focusing on my breath or playing a Youtube guided manifestation video, I never miss that time to dig deep within and recenter.

+ GIVE MY BODY PROPER NUTRITION

Not going to lie, I have seriously struggled with this for the past few years. I made a Youtube video explaining why if you want to watch. One thing I’ve realized over time is that in order to look, feel and perform my best, I need to eat right. Period. Something as basic as switching to a whole food, low fat, plant based diet will do wonders for your health but it’s easier said than done. My advice would be to take it meal by meal until you build a habit. There is no denying that first few days will be challenging but if you stick to it, you develop a routine and surprise yourself. I would have never thought in a million years that I would crave green smoothies but now, I have to drink one every single day. Miracles CAN happen if you welcome them! Here’s my recipe for my favorite green smoothie that keeps me full until lunch and is packed with vitamins and minerals:

  • 8 strawberries
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 1/2 cup spinach
  • 4 dates
  • 1 cup plant based milk ( I really love MALK Oat Milk)
  • Ice
  • *If you are very hungry, add 1/2 cup rolled oats to it and a little bit of water to reach the consistency of the smoothie that you like.

+ STAY ACTIVE

I’ve never been a person to go hard with my workouts for months on end. I definitely crave variety in my workouts and after 2020, I have chosen to listen to my body and give it the rest it needs. I find that working out hard 2-3 times a week (HIIT or Spinning) combined with daily walks with Humphrey and yoga / stretching is the perfect balance of what my body needs. Staying active is not only good for you to feel physically strong and healthy, but it can help with self esteem and mental health. Incorporate daily movement in your life (along with proper nutrition) and I guarantee you will start feeling your best in no time!

What are some daily habits that you have incorporated to live your best life? I’m always looking for inspiration — leave them below!
